You hear a lot of things on Sirius Radio that makes you think…what the?
For example, the commercials. If you were an alien and happened to turn on one of the talk channels on Sirius, you would be convinced you could order EVERYTHING online, including all your food and all of your clothing, and that people were extremely paranoid of being robbed, thus all the security system commercials. Also, people really care about their sleep number beds.
But anyway. Twelve days! One of the questions people most ask me is, “How long did it take to write your book?”
I never really know what to say. All in all, from first words to contract, it took about five years. But there were entire years in there where I did nothing. Nothing! I think books need to simmer, much like a good stew. I’d say the bulk of the work, if I counted the time spent actually writing and revising, would add up to about six months. I know that doesn’t sound like a lot, but there were a lot of stolen moments, in fifteen minute increments that added up to that time.
It is really, really hard with a day job. Especially a day job that involves computers. By the end of the day you are thinking: Gah! Get away from me, electronic thing!
I’m about a third of the way through book (I hope) #3. Let’s hope it doesn’t take five years. Ain’t nobody got time for that!
