Welcome to my author website!
I'm the author of The Geography of Water, a novel (University of Alaska Press). I've also published several short stories and essays in anthologies and journals.
My memoir, FIRE IN THE HEART; a memoir of friendship, loss, and wildfire, was just sold to Arcade. Release date September 5, 2017.
No readings scheduled. Contact me if you would like one, or if you'd like me to come to your book club.
Many people have asked about replying to blog posts. The reason I don't have that enabled on here is that I already get spammed by companies wanting me to hire them to increase my web presence. I'm afraid I'd just get trolls. But trust me, I answer every email. Go to the contact me tab and send me a note. I promise to answer, unless you are selling something.
Need a blurb for your book? I know how hard it can be to get those, for some of us who cringe at cold calling. I would like to pay it forward. If you've written an adventure memoir or a work of literary fiction, please ask! I don't generally read science fiction, history tomes, or historical fiction.
My next ms is being sent out to publishers. Fingers crossed that this will be another book. In the meantime, I am working on a novel. Contact me if you want to talk about anything writing related! I love to hear from writers and readers.
